We all want the same thing
Before I start, let me tell you this blog is about no one — and everyone. It isn’t because of something that just happened, but something that happens every day.
We forget kindness when we are at our kids’ events.
We forget that we’re doing this for the kids.
We forget our kids are watching.
We forget to assume innocence in everything.
We’re good people, so we volunteer to help at our kids’ events — 4-H fairs, ballgames, swim meets, gymnastic events, science fairs, dances, parties. They can’t run without us. The other adults there are our friends, our neighbors.
When things go wrong (and they will), we owe them the benefit of the doubt.
We’re all going to make mistakes. But that’s all they are — mistakes. Assume innocence in all mistakes — unintentional, regrettable mistakes.
We’re all after the same thing. Don’t get hung up if someone does things a little differently than you would have done. Don’t jump to conclusions. Don’t let anger steal the joy of the event.
Assume innocence in all things and just be kind to one another.
